Be the plumber they ring when water is going everywhere
Plumbing searches are some of the most urgent on Google. SEO for plumbers in Albury means showing up in the map, loading in a blink on a phone and putting your number right where a stressed home owner’s thumb lands.
The emergency caller and the planner want very different things
The first is the person with a burst pipe at 9pm or a toilet that won’t stop running. They search “emergency plumber Albury” or “plumber near me”, look at the map and ring whoever looks available. They aren’t reading. They want a name, a phone number and some sign that you’ll answer.
The second is planning ahead. They want a new hot water system before winter, a bathroom renovation or gas fitting for a new cooktop. They’ll compare a few plumbers, read about what you do and probably send a form rather than ring.
A good plumber website caters for both. The top of every page is for the emergency caller. The service pages lower down are for the planner.
Each one targets a search people really make
Pick the jobs that pay best or that you want more of and give each its own page.
Drain cameras, jetting and tree roots. One of the most searched plumbing jobs in any town.
Repairs and replacements for electric, gas, heat pump and solar systems. Winter on the Border makes this a busy page.
Cooktops, heaters and gas leaks, with your gas fitting licence shown clearly.
After hours availability spelt out honestly, including the area you’ll cover at night.
Photos of finished bathrooms do most of the selling on this page.
Hidden leaks, water bills that suddenly jump and how you track them down.
Tanks, pumps and rural plumbing for properties out past Jindera or Baranduda.
Maintenance work for shops, cafes and offices around the Albury CBD and Wodonga.
For urgent jobs the map matters more than anything else on the page
When someone searches for a plumber on their phone, Google usually shows a map with three businesses before any websites. Getting into those three spots comes down to your Google Business Profile, how close you are to the searcher and how much Google trusts your business.
Pick “Plumber” as your main category and add the others that fit. Set your hours honestly, including after hours if you offer it. Add a service area that covers the suburbs and towns you’ll actually drive to. Upload photos of real jobs every few weeks and reply to every review. Link the profile to the matching page on your website, not just the homepage.
This is a big part of what my local SEO plans cover. The Basic plan at $279 a month includes Google Business Profile optimisation. The Growth plan adds more advanced profile work plus local citations.
Urgent searches and clear job values make ads easier to measure
Plumbing is one of the trades where Google Ads tend to make the most sense. People searching “blocked drain Wodonga” want someone today. A call extension lets them ring straight from the ad without even visiting your site.
I’d usually run call focused ads for emergency work and separate ads for planned jobs like hot water replacements, each pointing to its own page. You can limit ads to certain hours and areas, so you aren’t paying for clicks at 2am from towns you’d never drive to. Management starts at $198 a month, with ad spend paid to Google.
Customers in Albury and Wodonga search separately
A plumber based in Albury who also takes jobs in Wodonga is dealing with two states. Plumbing and gas fitting licences are issued by different authorities in NSW and Victoria and the requirements aren’t the same, so it’s worth making clear which state or states you’re licensed in. You’ll know your own situation better than I do. I’ll make sure the details sit on the site where customers can see them.
From a search point of view, Wodonga customers often search with “Wodonga” in the phrase, so a page aimed at Victorian work helps you show up there. The Wodonga and Lavington pages explain more about how people in those areas search.

A plumbing business gets into the Google Maps three pack in Albury by having a complete Google Business Profile, accurate categories, a sensible service area, regular photos and steady reviews. Distance from the searcher also plays a part. A well built website linked to the profile helps Google trust it.
Google Ads are often worth it for a plumber in Wodonga because so many plumbing searches are urgent and ready to book. Call ads let people ring straight from the results. The Google Ads Basic plan is $198 a month plus a $480 setup fee, with ad spend paid to Google.
A plumber in Albury doesn’t have to show after hours rates, but saying clearly if you offer after hours work saves wasted calls. Some plumbers list a call out fee to set expectations. I’ll write it whichever way suits how you run your business.
A plumbing website can take booking requests for hot water services through a form asking for the system type, age and suburb. That helps you quote and bring the right parts. Full online booking with a calendar is possible too and sits in the Advanced Website range from $3300.
A plumber’s Google Business Profile on the Border should include the right main category, every service you offer, a service area across the suburbs you cover, accurate hours and recent job photos. Hide your home address if you work from home. Answer every review, good or bad, in a calm and helpful way.
Tell me which plumbing jobs you want more of and the areas you cover. I’ll explain how to get you showing up for them and what it costs.
