Restaurant and cafe websites people can read with one thumb
Cafe website design in Albury built around what hungry people actually look for. The menu, the hours, where you are and how to book.
Get these right and most of the job is done
Nobody browses a cafe website for fun. They are standing on Dean Street or sitting in the car in Wodonga wondering where to eat. Here is what they want, in order.
As real text on the page, not a blurry photo or a PDF that takes forever to open on mobile data.
Correct today, including public holidays and the odd early close for a private function.
An embedded Google Map, parking notes and which entrance to use.
A booking button or phone number that works in one tap.
Why the PDF menu is costing you customers
A lot of cafes upload the menu as a PDF or a photo of the printed version. It feels quick, but on a phone it means pinching, zooming and waiting. Google also struggles to read it, so searches like “gluten free breakfast Albury” or “vegan lunch Wodonga” never find your dishes.
I build menus as proper web pages. Sections for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, dietary tags next to each dish plus prices that are easy to change when your costs move. You get full access in Elementor to edit it yourself, so a new special can go up in a couple of minutes.
If you still want a printable version for functions, I can add one as a download underneath the main menu.
Short, local and right now
Food searches are some of the most local searches there are. People type “cafe near me”, “breakfast Lavington”, “pizza Wodonga” or “restaurant open late Albury”. Google answers most of these with the map pack first, then websites underneath.
That means your Google Business Profile does a lot of the heavy lifting while your website backs it up. When the profile and the site agree on your name, address, phone and hours, Google trusts both more.
Being on the Border adds a twist. A cafe in Albury will get plenty of searches from Wodonga people and the other way round. Travellers on the Hume Highway search for a stop as they get close. Your site should mention both sides and talk to people passing through.
Tables are one thing, a 40th birthday is another
For table bookings I can link to the reservation system you already use or set up a simple booking request form. Either way the button sits in the header so it is always within reach.
Functions need their own page. Room capacity, set menus, minimum spend, deposit rules and some photos of the space set up. A good function enquiry form asks for date, numbers and occasion so you can quote straight away instead of playing phone tag.
Catering, gift vouchers and online ordering can be added as well. Vouchers and ordering usually sit in the Advanced Website package from $3300.
Your profile is often seen before your website
Set special hours for every public holiday well before the day. Wrong hours are one of the quickest ways to lose a regular.
Add your menu link and your booking link in the profile. Post new photos of real dishes each month rather than stock images. Pick a primary category that matches what you mostly are, such as cafe, breakfast restaurant or Italian restaurant.
Turn on the attributes that apply, like outdoor seating, wheelchair access, dog friendly or kids menu. These feed straight into searches with those words in them. My local SEO work covers this kind of setup and keeps it tidy over time.
Sometimes, but usually not first
For most cafes the website, the menu and the Business Profile bring in far more than ads ever could. Ads start to make sense for things with a higher spend per booking, such as function rooms, Christmas parties, catering or a new dinner service you want to get known quickly.
If that sounds like you, my Google Ads management starts at $198 a month plus the ad spend you pay Google directly. I would keep it to one focused campaign to begin with.

An Albury cafe menu works best as a normal web page because it loads faster on phones and Google can read each dish. A PDF menu forces people to zoom and wait. Searches for specific dishes rarely find it. You can still offer a PDF for printing as an extra.
A cafe website in Albury from Website Design Albury costs $880 for a single page or $2200 for a complete site with separate menu, functions and about pages. Online ordering or gift vouchers start at $3300. All prices include GST and a free first year of WordPress maintenance.
Google shows the wrong opening hours for an Albury cafe when the Business Profile, website and other listings disagree. Update the profile first, set special hours for public holidays, then make sure your website shows the same times. Check it again whenever your hours change.
Cafe owners get full editing access to their WordPress and Elementor site, so menu prices and specials can be updated any time without calling a developer. Nick sets the menu up in simple sections so changes take a few minutes. A maintenance plan keeps the site itself updated and backed up.
A functions page is worth having for an Albury restaurant because private events usually bring in far more than an ordinary table booking. A separate page with capacity, packages and an enquiry form gives Google something specific to rank for searches like function rooms or Christmas parties.
Send me your current website or Facebook page and I will show you what a faster, clearer cafe site could look like.
