Google Ads Albury

AdWords management that puts your ads in front of Border customers

Google Ads Albury management from Website Design Albury gets you to the top of the search results while SEO is still building. Many people still call it AdWords. It remains one of the quickest ways to make the phone ring.

Why Google Ads suits Border businesses

Paying to appear when someone is ready to buy

Google Ads, the service many people still know as AdWords, lets you appear at the top of Google for chosen searches and pay only when someone clicks. Unlike SEO it starts working within days. That makes it handy for new businesses, seasonal work, a new service you want to push or a quiet patch you need to fill.

Around Albury Wodonga the search volume for most trades is modest compared to a capital city, which is good news. Clicks are often cheaper and a carefully set up campaign can cover the whole Border without a huge budget. The trick is spending only on the right searches from the right places.

Plenty of local businesses have tried ads, spent a few hundred dollars on clicks from people in Melbourne or searching for jobs, then given up. Most of the time the campaign was the problem, not the idea.

What good campaign management looks like

The details that stop wasted spend

Location targeting by postcode

Ads shown only to people in the postcodes you service, such as 2640 and 2641 in Albury and 3690 in Wodonga, on both sides of the Murray.

Negative keywords

A growing list of words that block useless clicks, like jobs, free, DIY, training or a competitor’s name you do not want to chase.

Call tracking

Calls from your ads and website counted as conversions, so you can see which keywords made the phone ring.

Form tracking

Every enquiry form sent from an ad click recorded, giving a clear cost per lead rather than just a cost per click.

Ad copy that fits

Ads that mention the Border, your licences and what makes your service worth calling, with extensions for phone and location.

Landing pages

Clicks sent to a page that matches the ad, not a generic homepage, so more visitors turn into enquiries.

Targeting both sides of the Murray

Getting the map settings right from the start

Google’s default location setting shows ads to people who are in your area or who are interested in it. For a local business that second part can be expensive, because someone in Sydney reading about Lake Hume could see your plumbing ad. I switch campaigns to people physically in or regularly in your chosen locations.

From there I build the target area from postcodes and towns rather than a big circle on the map. A circle around Albury picks up a lot of empty farmland and might cut off Wodonga suburbs you care about. Postcodes on both sides of the border let you include Thurgoona and Lavington, add Baranduda and Wodonga, then decide if Corowa, Rutherglen or Holbrook are worth the extra spend.

Bids can then be adjusted by area. If jobs in Albury are worth more to you because of travel time, the campaign can bid a little higher there and pull back elsewhere.

Cleaning up a campaign that has been left to run

If you already run ads, I can take over the account rather than start from scratch. Old accounts often carry broad match keywords spending money on loosely related searches, no negative list, ads running overnight when nobody can answer the phone and conversion tracking that counts page views as leads.

A takeover starts with an audit of the last few months of spend so you can see where the money went. Then the campaigns are restructured, tracking is fixed and the waste is trimmed. The optional takeover fee on the Essentials, Business and Advanced plans covers that rebuild.

Ads and SEO working together

Short term calls while long term rankings build

Google Ads stops the moment you stop paying. SEO keeps working after the effort is made. For most small businesses the best mix is ads to bring in work straight away and local SEO building in the background, then easing back on ad spend as organic rankings improve.

Ad data also feeds your SEO. The search terms report shows exactly which phrases led to calls, which tells me which pages to build and which words to use on the website. If you are unsure where to start, the SEO page explains the organic side.

Who manages Google Ads for small businesses in Albury?

Website Design Albury manages Google Ads for small businesses in Albury, Wodonga and the surrounding region. Nick Fritzkowski sets up and runs the campaigns himself, with location targeting by postcode, negative keywords and call and form tracking. Management plans start at $198 a month plus your ad spend.

Google Ads management in Albury through Website Design Albury costs $198, $396, $682 or $1980 a month including GST, depending on ad budget and campaign count. Basic has a $480 setup fee and a 6 month minimum. Ad spend is paid separately and directly to Google.

A Wodonga business can often start Google Ads with a budget of a few hundred dollars a month, because regional clicks tend to cost less than in the capital cities. The right amount depends on your trade and how much each job is worth. The Basic plan suits budgets up to $600 a month.

Google Ads can target both Albury and Wodonga postcodes in the same campaign, so ads reach customers on each side of the Murray. Postcode targeting is more precise than a radius. Bids can be raised or lowered for each area depending on where your best jobs come from.

AdWords is the old name for Google Ads and both terms refer to the same advertising platform, which Google renamed in 2018. Many Albury businesses still search for AdWords management. The service is the same, covering search ads, call ads and Shopping ads for online stores.

You own your Google Ads account when Website Design Albury manages it, because the account and billing stay in your name. Ad spend is charged by Google to your card. Nick is given access to manage campaigns. If you ever stop the plan the account, history and data remain yours.

Google Ads can bring enquiries to an Albury business within days of a campaign going live, once Google approves the ads. The first month is usually spent refining keywords, negatives and bids based on real search data, so results tend to improve steadily over the first few months.
